SUBSTANCE ABUSE STATISTICS

• Narcotic pain relievers now cause or contribute to nearly 3 out of 4 prescription drug overdoses
• 60% of overdose deaths are caused by prescription painkillers
• 90% of prescription drug addictions start in teenage years
• 2/5 teens believe prescriptions drugs are safer than street drugs
• 20 percent of vehicle-related deaths among children the age of 15 involved a drunk driver
• One person dies every 51 minutes in an accident caused by an alcohol-impaired driver
• Nearly 1 in 3 fatally injured drivers tested positive for drugs
• An estimated 24.6 million Americans aged 12 or older (9.4 % of the population) had used an illicit drug in the past month

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU KNOW OR SUSPECT A LOVED ONE IS USING

1. Pray diligently for them
2. Set and enforce clear boundaries
3. Encourage them to seek help  
4. Call Women at the Well for prayer and referral

    I am a recovering addict from pain pills/heroine. I have been on methadone for 2 years now. I am very interested in this program! Can I still take my methadone while there? What about my 2 year old son? Where will he go??
